Drink Driver Insurance
If you have been convicted of drink driving you may find getting insurance can be difficult. Let’s face it, as soon as you start looking for drink driver insurance, people want to charge the earth.
But with more and more people being caught out for drink driving you are not alone in your search for the best drink driver insurance on the market.
What you want:
Low prices –
Obviously with a drink driving conviction, you will be charged more than those without one but that doesn’t mean you should be exploited. Drink driver insurance specialists are usually more able to provide you with a reasonable price than your generic car insurance companies found on comparison sites.
The option to spread your costs –
if you are one of the majority who sometimes don’t have a large sum of money available to you to pay your insurance, the option to pay over monthly instalments could be a life saver.
A choice in the levels of cover –
You probably don’t want someone to lecture you on the merits of comprehensive insurance over third party, so we won’t. What we will tell you is that sometimes comprehensive is cheaper than third party so it’s always worth checking with your insurance provider before you commit to third-party insurance.
Insurance from reputable insurers –
It’s all very well having a drink driver insurance policy but with more and more reported cases of ghost broking and falsified documents, you want to know that you can trust your provider. Every insurance provider in the UK is regulated by the FCA and we make sure that everyone is complying with the rules they set. We go through rigorous compliance monitoring ourselves to ensure that your drink driver insurance is the best you can get.
Why Do I Need Specialist Insurance?
Unfortunately not all insurance providers are able to help those with drink driving convictions. Specialist insurance providers understand the risks you face. Specialists work with a large number of drink drivers and are often able to provide you with better prices than some of the standard insurance providers.

I’ve heard people are being convicted of drink driving when they are driving the next day.
It’s an unfortunate state of affairs but sometimes the morning after a few too many drinks, you may not be legal to drive your car. You may feel fine or you may feel a little thick headed. But often you don’t assume that you would be over the limit and still affected by the drinks you had last night.
So be careful the morning after, otherwise you might find yourself in need of drink driver insurance.
If you are crossing the border to Scotland, you best be careful.
In Scotland, the drink driving limits are lower than in England and Wales so if you have had a drink and are legal to drive in the UK, be careful when crossing the border as if you were to be tested and show a reading of, for example, 0.7 BAC you could land yourself with a driving ban.
Do I need to tell my employer about my drink driving conviction?
You should declare your conviction to your employer however if the conviction is spent then you don’t need to. A conviction is usually spent 5 years from the date of the conviction under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
